First, and always, I have been a fisherman. When I came to Maui from Washington in ‘95 I was a fly fisherman…now, I dive and spear fish every chance I get.
My printing has become an attempt to capture not only the character of the fish, but also commemorate the experience.
Most of these prints are the best examples of different species I have caught and eaten with friends and family.
When you travel here and other tropical destinations please consider how you and all the infrastructure created for your stay impact these fragile reef ecosystems.

These are some of my best fish from dives all around the island of Maui, Hawaii. Gyotaku prints were traditionally made by the people who caught the fish. After the prints are made the fish can then be filleted. Fish tacos, lemon butter with capers, or just panko coating n fried….the fish here taste amazing Any way you like to cook them.
One of the very best fish to eat, uku, aka green jobfish.
